He Loved Us First: A February Reminder of God’s Love

“We love because He first loved us.” — 1 John 4:19

February is everywhere you look—hearts, flowers, chocolates, and love songs on repeat. This month, the world spends time talking about, searching for, and celebrating love. But before Valentine’s cards, before relationships, before we ever loved anyone… God loved us first.

This truth changes everything.

Love Didn’t Start With Us

It’s easy to think love begins with what we feel or what we give. But Scripture flips that idea upside down. Our love is not the origin—it is the response.

Before you prayed your first prayer. Before you wore your first faith-based tee. Before you chose Him.

He chose you.

Your perfection, your obedience, or your worthiness did not trigger God’s love. It was never earned. It was freely given.

“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8

He didn’t wait for you to get it together. He loved you right where you were.

A Love That Pursues, Not Performs

The world teaches conditional love:

  • Love if you’re successful

  • Love if you’re beautiful

  • Love if you’re good enough

But God’s love is different. It pursues. It chases. It stays.

When we wear messages like “Redeemed”, we’re not just wearing a cute phrase—we’re wearing a testimony. We’re reminding ourselves (and others) that love didn’t begin with our performance. It started with His promise.

Wearing the Reminder

Clothing is powerful. It’s the first thing people see and often the first conversation starter. When you wear a faith-based message, you’re carrying truth into grocery stores, classrooms, coffee shops, and conversations.

A simple phrase on a tee can spark a question:

“What does that mean?”

And suddenly, you’re sharing the Gospel without standing on a stage.

That’s the heart behind Made by Yen—faith worn boldly, truth worn daily.

Let February Point You Back to Him

This month, as the world celebrates romantic love, let it also remind you of the greatest love story ever told.

A love that crossed heaven and earth. A love that carried a cross. A love that never left.

He loved us first.

And because He loved us first, we can love boldly, forgive freely, and live confidently in His grace.

A Simple Prayer

Lord, thank You for loving me before I ever loved You. Help me to live, speak, and wear Your love boldly so others may know You too. Amen.
